TEXT:
Pre-Algebra (Glencoe Mathematics, et al, 2005). This is to be covered and left at home unless otherwise directed!

GRADING:
Your math grade will be determined in the following way:
Tests/Projects: 40%
Classwork: 30%
Quizzes: 20%
Homework: 10%

Class expectations:
  • Students are to try their best, in and out of class, to master the curriculum. Your attitude, not your aptitude, best determines your altitude!
  • Students are to do their own work. (A parent/guardian will be notified in the case of any failure to meet this expectation.)
  • Character Counts! Students are to demonstrate trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship at all times!
  • Students are to notify me when they have a concern about their learning, my teaching, or any aspect of class which may be preventing them from achieving their potential.

Failure to follow the classroom and/or school rules will result in one or more of the following consequences: verbal warning, student/teacher conference after class and completing a T.O.S. slip, parent/guardian contact, after-school detention, and/or office referral.

Quizzes and Tests:
  • Quizzes will be given periodically throughout each unit. The material covered will follow from homework and classwork assignments. Therefore, if you do not complete your homework, you are not likely to pass the quizzes.
  • Tests will be given at the end of each unit and will be announced at least 3 days before. Tests must be signed by a parent and returned to the teacher. Tests not returned will be followed up with a phone call home.

HOMEWORK POLICY:
  • You can expect math homework about 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs).
  • Homework will be checked the day after it is assigned. I will be checking homework for completeness. If all of the assignment is complete, you receive 3 points. If most of the assignment is complete, or it is one day late, you receive 2 points. If only part of the assignment is complete or it is two days late, you receive 1 point. I will NOT accept homework after two days!!
  • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out the homework assignment and make up the homework assignment within 2 days.
